The Meaning of Ekofa
EKOFA is a name rooted in both cultural reference and intention.
Sankofa is a word and principle from the Akan people of Ghana, often translated as “go back and get it.” It reflects the importance of learning from the past in order to move forward with wisdom and clarity.
The prefix “eco” derives from the Greek word oikos, meaning house or household, and is commonly associated with ecology—the relationship between living beings and their environment.
Together, EKOFA can be understood as “returning home”—a call to reconnect with what sustains us. It represents a return to the Earth, to the body, and to the collective practices that support healing and well-being.
EKOFA is not only a name, but a guiding principle: to retrieve what has been forgotten, restore balance, and build pathways for care rooted in both history and lived experience.

Our DBA Mothur, operates as the care-focused division of EKOFA, providing bodywork, companion care, and wellness services that support individuals and families in their daily lives.
