Matriarchal Origins for Therapeutic Healing + Universal Rhythms
Care That Honors Every Rhythm of Life
Mothur is a care + wellness practice by EKOFA rooted in matriarchal traditions of care and the universal rhythms of being human. We support the rhythms that shape our lives, from parenting and caregiving to grief, rest, aging, life, and transitions. Through practical support, bodywork, wellness, and relationship-centered care, Mothur creates space for you to be cared for, restored, and supported in whatever season you're in.
Serving Washington, DC, the Maryland Capital Region, and Northern Virginia.
Our Philosophy & Approach:
We believe care is part of being human. Throughout our lives, we move between giving care, receiving care, needing rest, tending to others, and finding our way through change.
While many of life's rhythms are universal, the way we move through them is deeply personal. Every person has their own rhythm; the unique ways they rest, heal, connect, work, care, and move through life's many seasons.
By honoring your routines, relationships, environment, preferences, needs, and goals, we shape care around the rhythm of your life, creating support that feels personal, responsive, sustainable, and deeply human.
The “U” in Mothur is intentional. It centers you. It is a reminder that even as we care for one another, we must make space for ourselves. We believe in care that is relational and generous without requiring self-erasure.
Caring for others should not mean disappearing from our own lives. We hope to create space for you to nurture yourself, receive care, or find more ease in your life.
Your Care Process
Our Process
-
Once you've decided to move forward, Care Initiation begins. This collaborative process ensures we create the right foundation for a successful care relationship.
Depending on your selected service, Care Initiation may include:
Personalized intake and assessment
Trial Care Sessions (Home Support & Care Partnerships)
Care planning and service recommendations
Required client paperwork and agreements
Scheduling and on-boarding
Payment setup and applicable deposits
Final approval to begin ongoing services
Care Partnership: $120 non-refundable Care Initiation Fee.
-
Following your Care Initiation, we'll create your personalized Care & Rhythm Plan, a living plan tailored to your goals, routines, support needs.
Once your plan is in place, you can easily schedule your Care Sessions through the client portal, or we'll gladly assist you in coordinating your schedule.
Your Rhythm Plan guides your recommended services, recurring schedule, wellness priorities, and ongoing support. Recommendations may include Home Support, a Care Partnership, Massage Therapy, or a combination of services.
Care Balance
We reserve dedicated time for your care rather than billing strictly by the hour. Every support service includes designated service hours.
If a Care Visit concludes before the reserved time, eligible unused hours are added to your Care Balance and may be applied toward future approved services.
Your Care Balance and recurring schedule are confirmed as part of your Rhythm Plan and will be in your client portal.
Massage Therapy & Holistic Services→ No Care Balance. Every session includes assessment, treatment, and integration as part of the reserved appointment.
-
Accepted Payment Methods
Your payment options will be reviewed during your Care Alignment Call and finalized during Care Initiation.
We currently accept:
ACH bank transfer (direct debit)
Credit or debit card stored in your client portal
Self pay through the portal
Electronic invoice payment
Payment methods may vary based on the service selected and your individualized care agreement.
